Madison Jones is an executive in media and entertainment partnered with multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated producer, Suzanne de Passe, in de Passe Jones Entertainment. He has overseen projects in all genres, fiction and non-fiction. He has expertise in intellectual property licensing and content production. Madison is also a sci-fi/ fantasy creator/writer/producer.  

  
TELEVISION:

  • Creator/Writer/Executive Producer: FANG: A sci-fi/fantasy television series in development, set in 16th Century Africa. Alexander Dreymon, star of Netflix's THE LAST KINGDOM, is attached to play a leading role. FANG will be directed by Jon East (Downton Abbey, Killing Eve, Netflix Lost in Space, The Last Kingdom, Cursed).    • Writer: FANG - The upcoming graphic novel with Dark Horse Comics (Star Wars, Avatar, Hellboy)

   • Founder of Revenger Comics (revenger.com) and Revenger Kids (revengerkids.com). Revenger is a sci-fi/fantasy imprint. Madison's debut graphic novel under his (comic book) pen name, Billy Majestic, and distributed by IDW Publishing/Revenger Comics, received critical acclaim from the sci-fi/fantasy community:

THEATER:

  • Writer: ELIZA, a new musical in development, based on George Bernard Shaw's PYGMALION. Directed by Charles Randolph Wright (director of the hit Broadway Musical, MOTOWN). Produced by Suzanne de Passe.

BOOK PUBLISHING:

Mr. Jones secured the return of the publishing rights to all of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s backlist of books for Time Warner, later published with Beacon Press. He oversaw the development, with Stanford University’s Dr. Clayborne Carson, THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, Jr. The MLK, Jr. publishing program is currently with Harper Collins.

  • Packaged: I HAVE A DREAM, a Children’s book on Martin Luther King, Jr. published by Scholastic. The book received the NAACP Image Award for Excellence.

  • Executive Producer: A KNOCK AT MIDNIGHT, a collection of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s sermons. Time Warner - Hardcover and audiobook. 

KING ESTATE and KING PAPERS:

Accomplishments of Mr. Jones with the King legacy:

  • Working with the Estate of Martin Luther King, Jr., Mr. Jones is overseeing the disposition of the artifacts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s personal possessions, which include Dr. King's Bible, the Nobel Prize, his pastoral robes, the Lorraine Motel key to the room he stayed in at the time of his assassination. The collection also includes the archive of MLK's historic copyrights, including the "I Have a Dream" and "Mountain Top" speeches, as well as the archive containing the copyrights of all of his speeches, sermons, and books.

  • Mr. Jones helmed the $32 million acquisition and transfer of Dr. King's handwritten papers to his alma mater, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. The transaction was the largest of an archive in U.S. history. Mr. Jones was called the “architect” of the deal by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

  • Mr. Jones led the negotiation with Mr. Berry Gordy to return the Motown sound recording masters of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous speeches to the King family. The recordings included the "I Have a Dream" speech.  

  • Mr. Jones has negotiated licensing deals for the use of Dr. King's name, image, likeness, copyrighted works, and Rights of Publicity, with hundreds of major companies and brands: Apple Computer, NBC, Fox, ABC, ABC 20/20, CBS, HBO, CNN, ESPN, MTV, BET, Microsoft, Ophrah Winfrey's Harpo, Scholastic, Facebook, Twitter, the Smithsonian, Spike Lee's 40 Acres and A Mule Film Works, Scholastic, The United Negro College Fund, Nike, The Olympics, Oprah Magazine, Prince's Paisley Park, Lockheed Martin Corp, Sony, Warner Bros., The History Channel, Time-Warner, Today Show, Touchstone Pictures, Toyota, U.S. Postal Service, Delta, United Airlines, Universal Music Group, IBM, Microsoft, Kraft Foods, Coke, Duke University, ESPN, Federal Express, Ford Motor Co., BBC, The Boston Globe, Chevrolet, General Foods, Deutsch Bank/Bank One, Nashville Symphony, National Geographic, Navy, African-American Family Press, African-American Voices of Triumph, American Family Press, and most professional sports teams in all leagues.
